Wow, so I didn’t even think to search for the tag “50 mm” (because why the hell would I?), but it turns out to be an extremely common and popular one. (Figures: fixed-gear bicycles are de rigeur, why wouldn’t fixed-focal-length lenses be?)
I mean, I shouldn’t be surprised—the hipster penetration rate to tumblr is intense, and the DSLR penetration rate into hipsterdom is equally-so—but I have to say, it is a little saddening to see that it’s so monolithically of the same ultra-shallow DOF F1.8 whimsy/nostalgia/dreamy bullshit that I suppose is par for the course here.
But really. Does nobody have any reverence for an ultra-sharp aesthetic? Come on guys, quit living the realm of vague, whispy ambiguity. You can’t hide in/flee to the realm of différence forever.
